Cookie Policy
One cookie, and why
Short version: one cookie keeps your bag and your sign-in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
The cookie this website sets
- Name
- hpm_session
- What it does
- Remembers your bag, keeps you signed in to your account, and protects the site's forms from being sent by someone else on your behalf.
- How long
- Up to 30 days, so your bag is still there when you come back. Signing out ends the sign-in at once.
- Needed?
- Yes. Without it the bag and checkout cannot work, so it is set without asking, as the law allows for cookies a site cannot run without.
What your browser keeps for you
The pieces you keep (the heart), the pieces you have looked at recently, and your motion setting are stored in your own browser so the site can show them back to you. They never leave your device. Clearing your browser data removes them.
When you pay
Payment happens on Stripe's own secure page, which sets its own cookies to keep the payment safe and to prevent fraud. Stripe's cookie information covers those.
The typefaces
The House's typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts. Your browser asks Google for them, which shares your IP address with Google in the ordinary way of loading any web page. Google Fonts does not set cookies.
Counting visits
The House counts, without cookies and without knowing who you are, how many people visit, which pages and pieces they look at, which kind of device they use, where they came from (for example a search or Instagram) and which printed cards are scanned. To count visitors rather than page loads, your browser keeps a random number for the length of one visit (in session storage, which clears when you close the tab). Nothing is used for advertising.
